Polestar Additionals increases B2C sales by 232% with WooCommerce

Polestar is an electric car brand with an emphasis on performance and a sustainable future. Combining innovative technology and elegant design, Polestar is focused on its mission to produce a truly climate-neutral car by 2030.

In 2021, Polestar began offering additional merchandise as an extension of its brand through its Polestar Additionals website. WooCommerce was the preferred eCommerce platform chosen by their previous partner Prominate. In 2024, they rebuilt and launched a new multi-market e-commerce store with Angry Creative, offering items from art prints to apparel.

After evaluating several e-commerce options for two months, they decided to stick with the clear best solution: WooCommerce. We sat down with Polestar Additionals sales manager to find out more about their decision and how it’s paid off so far.

  • From 2024 to 2025, B2C sales grew by 232%.
  • In 2025, B2C accounted for 44% of total sales, reflecting a 100% increase from 22% in 2024.
  • From 2024 to 2025, sales increased by 40%.

Polestar Additionals used WooCommerce from the start. When they needed to quickly expand their online store to international markets, WooCommerce gave them options that allowed them to stay in control and grow.

“It’s a flexible and cost-effective system that gives us full control over functionality, design and integration – all without compromising the user experience.”

WooCommerce already worked well for Polestar Additionals thanks to:

  • How easy it is to be self-employed.
  • How not to rely on developers for every change or new feature.
  • How it saves them time and money while being scalable and flexible.

It was convenient not to have to switch to a new e-commerce platform and have to start from scratch.

“Since the platform already meets all our current needs – from product and inventory management to payment solutions and campaign processing – we saw no reason to switch to another system,” said their sales manager. “On the contrary, continuing to build on what we had already created seemed like a safe and smart investment.”

At this stage, Polestar Additionals offers around 100 items and counting, updating its multi-market localized store weekly for customers worldwide.

Working closely with Polestar Additionals, Angry Creative implemented an e-commerce infrastructure and design that aligned with Polestar Additionals’ image and vision. From revamping the mega menu of the main site to WooCommerce integration, they made sure every element of the online merchandise store felt natural to the brand.

Angry Creative maintained visual consistency on the Polestar Additionals website by using a custom service pack that pulled menu items from an API endpoint provided by Polestar Additionals.

In addition, Angry Creative also streamlined Polestar Additionals’ business flows, migrated their inventory and improved the voucher system, effectively transforming the site into a customer-facing multisite with improved scalability and performance.

Using a WordPress multisite powered by MultilingualPress, Polestar Additionals has localized its store to 21 countries.

“Each country has its own site instance within the network, allowing full control over language, content, currency and local configurations,” said their sales manager. “This allows each market to tailor the shopping experience to their specific needs while keeping everything under one technical umbrella.”

Angry Creative further optimized its multisite by creating specialized plugins that enable advanced features such as syncing promotions between sites, awarding coupons based on user roles, and providing accurate taxes and duties at checkout based on the customer’s location.

The Polestar Additionals e-commerce journey continues to accelerate. WooCommerce not only meets the company’s current needs, but more importantly, lays the foundation for continued growth in sustainability and innovation.

Polestar Additionals is now focused on stabilizing its position in key markets and ensuring that each store is fully compliant with the European Accessibility Act (EAA) – all while improving their customer experience and keeping up with the latest e-commerce trends. even more a seamless and user-friendly multi-market website.
